"Hear this, you kings! Listen, you rulers!
I will sing to the LORD, I will sing;
I will make music to the LORD, the God of Israel." Judges 5:3
Music is an important part of life at Christ The King. Our six musical ensembles, described below, are always looking for new members. Joanne Hines leads the Youth Choir, Ian Watson leads the Adult Choir. Kathy Murcko leads the Children's Chimes, the Junior Bell Choir, and the Adult Hand Bell Choir.
The Youth Choir, directed by Joanne Hines, is open to students starting in Grade 2 and rehearses on Tuesdays from 5:45 to 6:30 PM.
Children’s Chimes
Our three-octave set of hand chimes is played by students in grades 1-3. We rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:00 PM during the school year and perform at approximately five services per year. No prior musical experience is necessary; children in this group will be taught basic musical literacy as part of their rehearsals.
The Junior Bell Choir, open to students in Grades 4-8, rehearses on Tuesdays from 7 to 7:45 PM.
The Adult Choir is open to any singer ages 14 and up, regardless of previous choral experience, and rehearses on Sunday mornings at 9:45 AM.
Handbell Choir
Our four-octave handbell choir rehearses on Monday evenings, from 7:15 to 8:30 PM, and performs at approximately six services per year. Handbells not only produce a beautiful tone but are also an easy way to become involved in making music in an ensemble setting - if you can count to four, you can learn to play handbells!
Praise Band
Led by Jim Bruce, the ‘Good News Praise Band’ leads the music at the 9:45 service each week from September through June. This is the only ensemble at Christ The King that requires members to audition, but Jim and/or Pastor Janisko are always eager to listen to vocalists and instrumentalists who might be interested in becoming a part of this group. Praise Band rehearsals are Wednesday from 7:30-9:00 PM.
The Band is now auditioning instrumentalists (contact Jim Bruce) and vocalists to expand their talent base.
